Homemade Coconut Frozen Yogurt Recipe
Homemade Coconut Frozen Yogurt
Equipment
- 1 Stick blender wt whisk or hand whisk
- 1 Ice Cream Maker (See recipe for a simple, manual alternative)
- 1 Resealable, freezer-safe container (At least 1lt in size)
Ingredients
- 400 grams Coconut milk
- 270 grams Greek yogurt (Or normal yogurt)
- 120 grams Honey
- 1 tsp Vanilla extract
Instructions
Prep
- Weigh/ measure out your ingredients
To Make
- Place all of the ingredients into a large bowl and whisk well for 2-3 minutes. Alternatively, use a food mixer or a stick blender with a whisk attachment and mix for 1 minute on a medium high speed
- If using an ice cream maker, follow the user guidelines for best result then either eat immediately or place into a resealable, freezer-safe container and store in the freezer
- If making this recipe without an ice cream maker, scrape the mixed ingredients into a resealable, freezer-safe container and place in the freezer for 30 minutes. After 30 minutes, remove and mix well with a spatula or spoon making sure to scrape down the sides of the container. Repeat this process every 30 minutes until the desired consistency is reached. Serve immediately or store in freezer
To Serve
- If storing in the freezer rather than serving immediately, remove 10-15 minutes (depending on your ambient temperature) prior to serving to allow the frozen yogurt to soften a little
Notes
- Whatever recipe you are making, get into the habit of tasting it at various points. Just because a recipe says a dish should be a certain way doesn’t mean you have to agree. After step 1 of the ‘To Make’ section, taste it. If you think it needs a little more honey or vanilla then add it here and mix again. The more experienced you get with any recipe or any style of cooking, the more you will trust your own palate. I’m a firm believer that when you make a recipe it becomes yours to adjust and play with. Sure, certain recipes require precise measurements for technical reasons but flavour is subjective and personal. Never be afraid to make a recipe your own or to use it as a starting point for an entirely new creation.
